The Importance of a Good Vet

If you are near Inkster, Wayne or Dearborn and you have just got a little furry friend, read this before your first veterinary visit.

My friend recently got his first dog. An adorable little labradoodle named Faf. Unfortunately, as most dogs tend to do, Faf got worms. This left my friend in desperate need of a veterinarian. He was scared for his dog and wanted a solution quickly, so he ended up just searching “Pet Care Clinic” and going to the nearest vet. The doctor successfully identified the worms and sent him on his way with some medicine.

However, my friend’s dog did not seem to get better after some time with this vet. Faf just kept on being unwell. Very obviously, this was disturbing to my friend. This vet wasn’t working out for my friend at all, suffice to say.

At this point in the story, you might be asking why didn’t my friend just come to me? My friend lives in the other side of Detroit, so it was a bit out of reach for him. At this point he felt the need to start looking further around his city and into the areas around it. This would be like someone from Inkster really digging down and doing their research by checking vet clinics in not just Inkster but also vet clinics in Dearborn and Wayne.

This time he wasn’t taking any chances. He decided to check Google reviews, ask friends and family, and do research on making sure he found a good vet. Eventually he did find a better vet who was able to identify the problem. The first vet didn’t actually take a stool sample to see what type of worms Faf had. Rather, the first vet just gave him some generic medicine that was not actually guaranteed to work with the type of worms that Faf had at all.

This was a close call. Sure, worms aren’t the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination. But it was only worms this one time. Imagine if Faf had caught a more serious illness. This doctor would not have been able to provide the proper care and things would have gotten so much worse. So if you are a new dog owner reading this there is one thing I want you to take away from this blog post. Do your due diligence and find a good animal hospital. You don’t want to end up having to find an emergency clinic because something has gone wrong, a good vet will save you time and heartache in the long run.
